Apprentices of Münchner Wohnen

For the third time, Münchner Wohnen organised a project on the culture of remembrance together with Public History at the City of Munich's Department of Culture. In a seminar, trainees from the company researched the lives of people who lived in GEWOFAG and GWG (now Münchner Wohnen) flats in Sendling and were victims of National Socialist persecution under expert guidance. Using very different sources from various archives, the trainees worked out the lives of Lisette Lilie, Betty Landauer, Dr Julian Marcuse and Karl Simon.

As part of a commemorative event on 18 July 2025, the trainees read out the biographies they researched before the memorial signs were placed at the former homes of Lisette Lilie, Betty Landauer, Dr Julian Marcuse and Karl Simon. Thus, the people from Sendling who were so brutally torn away from their surroundings are once again given a place in our urban society, at least symbolically.
