Dr Karl Josef Weigang came from Krefeld and studied Catholic theology in Innsbruck and Bonn from 1922. In 1925, he moved to the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and studied education. Karl Josef Weigang received his doctorate in 1929 and worked as a curative teacher in the following years. From 1935 he lived in Gedonstraße. He was critical of National Socialism.
In 1937, Dr Karl Josef Weigang was arrested for alleged homosexuality and sentenced to two months imprisonment and a fine by the Munich Regional Court. In October 1937, the Gestapo transferred him to the Dachau concentration camp, where he was tortured with various ‘camp punishments’ and ‘bunker imprisonment’. Dr Karl Josef Weigang was murdered in the Dachau concentration camp on 29 December 1938.
