A memorial service for Dr Fritz Zieglwallner will take place on Monday, 11 November 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Maximilian Saal. Dr Konrad Schober, District President of Upper Bavaria, City Councillor Andreas Voßeler, representing the Lord Mayor of the City of Munich, and Ellen Presser, Jewish Community
Munich and Upper Bavaria, will speak. Prof Thomas Neuhann, MD, will speak on behalf of the relatives and read out the biography, followed by Dr Marianne Röbl-Mathieu, Regional Board Representative for Munich of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians of Bavaria, and Priv.-Doz. Dr Karin Schnebel from the Lehel district committee. The event will be accompanied by Esther Schöpf on the violin.

The physician Dr Fritz Zieglwallner was considered a ‘half-breed of the first degree’ due to his Jewish mother. The surgeon and orthopaedist was both the medical director of the district hospital and a school doctor, as well as running his own medical practice. After the assumption of power, the city of Munich revoked his appointment as a school doctor, and in 1937 the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians informed him that his licence to practise would be ‘suspended’. Dr Fritz Zieglwallner travelled to Berlin to appeal to the Reich Admissions Committee, but the committee rejected his appeal. On his way home, Fritz Zieglwallner collapsed dead while boarding the train to Munich.

Afterwards, a Memorial Sign for Dr Fritz Zieglwalnner will be placed at his former place of residence on Karl-Scharnagel-Ring - formerly Seitzstraße 3.
