Granddaughter of Dr Michael Strich and initiator of the Memorial Sign

Michael Strich was born in Berlin in 1881 and studied history at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. He received his doctorate there in 1907. As a private scholar, historian Dr. Michael Strich specialised in modern history and published several important works. In 1920, he became the owner of the residential building at Clemensstraße 41 and moved into an apartment there. His daughter Elisabeth Charlotte was born in 1923.

In November 1941, the Gestapo deported Dr. Michael Strich to Kaunas, Lithuania, where he was shot by the SS along with 1,000 other Jewish women, men and children.
